It was a trying day. Spring is in the air, the teens, who have very little control over the fact that they don't make decisions based in logic, are horny little beasts incapable to remembering anything but the last three words out of my mouth, and I think I accidentally prayed for patience recently.
Yes. I was tested. More than I can ever express in words.
BUT...my seniors started burning up my cell phone around noon today. "Ma. Jostens is here."
"Winnie, come get ur gown."
They call me Winnie because apparently saying Mrs. Wentworth is a lot of work. They call me Ma because that's what they call women of older stature (I said oldER, not old) who deserve respect in gangsta.
Why? My graduation gown came with theirs. They know how excited I am to get it, and they wanted to be the first to share the moment with me.
We paraded them around in the halls. We visited the neighboring classrooms and paraded some more. Some kids announced that they're road tripping to Grand Rapids for my graduation before their own on the same day (we all know that their parents will never let them, but it's the thought that counts). Funny how I care more that they would want to be there than I care that my extended family would want to be there.
I suppose I should get around to filling out the graduation announcements....
